Tesla's vision of the future

Was Tesla’s flashy “We, Robot” event a rare glimpse into the future — or just an elaborate sleight of hand? That depends on who you ask.
Elon Musk’s primetime showcase was heavy on theatrics:
Guests rode self-driving Cybercab prototypes through LA’s Warner Bros movie lot
A sci-fi-inspired Robovan rolled onto the stage as aerial drones lit up the sky
A fleet of Optimus humanoid robots poured drinks and chatted with attendees
But some in the AI community are urging caution: They say Musk gets credit for envisioning what an AI-powered world might look like in a decade or two, but he didn’t quite explain how to get there. We learned that the Cybercab will cost less than $30,000 — and that production will begin no later than 2027. But otherwise, the presentation was relatively light on details. Safety experts, meanwhile, are calling for more transparency and testing before driverless cars become a part of our daily lives.
